General Instructions
Track your weight daily
Weigh yourself each day at the same time and wearing the same clothes. Write your weight down. If you gain more than two to three pounds in one day or more than three to five pounds in one week, please call your doctor.
Get dressed
Try to get dressed in regular daytime clothing in the morning. This can help lift your spirits and you will feel more like moving around. It may also be helpful to eat your meals in a chair instead of in bed.
Posture
Use good posture when sitting or standing to prevent tightness around incisions as they heal.
Memory and concentration
It is normal to have poor short-term memory and poor concentration for 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. Returning to normal activities, healthy nutrition, and sleeping well can help correct this.
Hot flashes and sweating
Periods of "hot flashes" with sweating or cold hands and feet are common after surgery, and gradually decrease as the body returns to normal with good nutrition and activity.
