About Me

I am a native Californian, born and raised in Napa. I became a physician because I like the opportunity to help people improve their health.

I chose obstetrics and gynecology because of the interesting mix of medicine and surgery, and the miracle of childbirth. After training, I was in private practice for five years in Corvallis, Oregon. I joined Kaiser Permanente here in Vallejo in January, 1985, and held the position of Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1990-1992. Things I like most about working for Kaiser Permanente include my ability to do what is best for each patient without having to worry about financial/insurance concerns, and the ready availability of medical consultants.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe every patient is ultimately responsible for her own health choices. Regular exercise, weight control, good nutrition, and abstinence from smoking are important starting points, but some patients need extra help. I like to educate and empower women so they can make good health decisions.

My Outside Interests

I have a wife and three grown children. I have traveled extensively around the US by piloting my small airplane. I enjoy traveling to Baja California and other parts of Mexico as well, and I also like bicycle riding and hiking,

My Credentials

Medical school Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC
Internship UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Residency UC San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco, CA
Board certification Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
