Simple, Everyday Activities Can Improve Your Appearance

Simple, everyday activities can improve both your appearance and your health! Outlined below are a list of easy things you can do which can improve your appearance more than you would think!

1)PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SUN

Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure ages your skin over time. If you don't believe me, just take a look at your shoulders and compare that skin to your underarm areas. Excessive sun exposure has been proven to be a major factor in the development of skin cancer and skin blemishes (freckles, brown spots, etc.) You may also notice that people who have spent a great deal of time in the sun have thicker, more "leathery" skin. Even in cool or cloudy weather, always apply sun block with a SPF of 30 or greater if you are going outdoors!

2)GET ENOUGH SLEEP, EXERCISE, AND EAT WELL

Yes, your mom was right. Sleeping and eating right are very important. Tired bags under the eyes and wrinkles can be a product of inadequate rest. It is not intuitively obvious, but poor sleep makes you grumpy, less outgoing, and less sharp. Beauty is not simply a physical quality. Controlled studies have demonstrated that individuals are consistently judged to be more attractive when they are happy, friendly, and outgoing. The impact of exercise and good eating habits on our physical appearance is readily apparent as we age.

3) MAINTAIN A SKIN CARE REGIMEN

We offer many lines of skin care products in our cosmetic office. However, if you are concerned about cost, at a minimum you should cleanse your face and apply lotion/moisturizer regularly. Regular cleansing unclogs pores and removes old keratinous debris. Moisturizers prevent skin from drying, flaking, and cracking. Once again, avoid prolonged sun exposure and use sunblock SPF 30 or greater on a regular basis.
