About Me

Education: BA Psychology Tulane University 1979; MSW University of California at Berkeley 1983; Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1986.
Joined Kaiser in 1994, after working at two eating disorders programs at St Helena Hospital and Mt Diablo Hospital, since 1984.
Speciality: Adults struggling with Eating Disorders, specifically Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa.
Administrative Role: Serve as Best Practices Chair for Eating Disorders, Northern California.
Outside Interests: My children and family (and dog), hiking, gardening, reading and playing guitar. I love a good musical, a scary movie and anything that gets me up to the mountains or near a coast. Of course, I also love a good meal.

I have worked in Behavioral Medicine since I started at Kaiser. Working with how the body and mind both hurt and help each other fit in well with my work with eating disorder sufferers. Helping adults and their families combat anorexia and bulimia is fulfilling work. In a culture that overvalues thinness and flawlessness, we try to get people to reclaim what really is important to them: living a full, healthy life, and that path being determined not by the number on a scale or clothing size, but on the true "appetites" of their dreams.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
