About Me

I was born and raised in the Sacramento area. I attended California State University and graduated with a BA in Corrections and a minor in Communications. I have a Master of Social Work with a mental health emphasis. I have been licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences with a license in Clinical Social Work since 1994. I am currently teaching classes for the Behavioral Health Education Pathway in Folsom and Rancho Cordova.

Behavioral medicine is the integration of behavioral and medical science in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical conditions. More than 25 years of research, clinical practice and community-based interventions have shown that behavioral changes help people feel better physically and emotionally, improve their health status, reduce the symptoms of medical conditions, and improve their quality of life. Behavioral interventions have also been shown to improve effectiveness of medical interventions, reduce over-utilization of the healthcare system and reduce overall costs of care.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
