I was born at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and my Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from the University of California in Berkeley. I am certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and the American Board of Genetic Counseling. I am also a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors. Before coming to Kaiser in 1991, I worked at Alta California Regional Center in Sacramento. I was one of the founding members of the Northern California Fragile X Support Group and the Sacramento Down Syndrome Support Group. I have a particular interest in mental retardation syndromes, adult-onset neurological syndromes and prenatal diagnosis.

On a personal note, I have two daughters who have recently left my home to pursue their own lives. I am learning what it feels like to choose how to spend my free time versus doing what needs to be done so my children’s lives can be fulfilling. It is not as easy as I thought it would be. So far, traveling and dancing are at the top of the list.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
