About Me

I've been a physician at Oakland Kaiser ever since graduating from medical school in 1986. I've always felt privileged to serve in a Medical Center surrounded by so many excellent doctors whose overriding intention is to provide the best possible care to our community. I continue to love working here, for many reasons. One of those reasons is that the ease of communication with consulting services allows us to get the whole medical team synchronized for the patients' benefit. I'm also a big fan of the Kaiser system's emphasis on preventative medicine and patient education.

Working in the Emergency Department can sometimes be stressful, but I've found that the rewards of helping people through difficult and occasionally dramatic times are great. When I'm not at work I like to refresh myself by jogging and swimming. I also like to (try) to play the piano, to cook, read, and use my new Netflix subscription. And, though I've left it for the last sentence, as is true of most people, my family is a hugely important part of my life.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
