Welcome to my home page!

My name is Margarita Baca and I am a Nurse Practitioner in Kaiser San Rafael’s Downtown Department of Medicine. I’m proud to be a member of such an outstanding medical group and department. I’m confident you’ll always receive the highest quality of care and service from either me or any of my colleagues here at Kaiser Permanente. As a Nurse Practitioner I treat and take care of patients eighteen years and older with varying degrees of ailments. These include but are not limited to chronic conditions such as asthma or managing the progress and success of patients with diabetes or high blood pressure. If you ever see me in an office visit setting you will also notice a strong emphasis on health promotion through the aid of proper nutrition and exercise. The best way to manage our sickness is in staying healthy whenever possible.

I’m always proud to relate my “Dishpan to Bedpan” story, plus many of my patients get a kick out of it! I started working for Kaiser Permanente twenty-eight years ago in San Jose. I worked in the kitchen as a dishwasher. Knowing that this wasn’t my ambition in life I worked hard to receive my registered nursing degree from Evergreen College. I became an RN and for thirteen years honed my craft in the hospital setting in various intensive and cardiac care units in the South Bay. I then hit the books again and attended UC San Francisco where I received my Bachelors of Nursing and ultimately a graduate degree to become an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 1999. I’ve been practicing in this capacity ever since. So, that’s my “Dishpan to Bedpan” story, you can imagine how wide and varied my experiences have been since 1978!
