About Me

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where I lived until I went away to college. In 1982, I graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, earning a Bachelor of Social Work degree. I moved to Austin, Texas where in 1986 I received a Master in Social Work degree from the University of Texas in Austin. I was licensed in Texas as an Advanced Clinical Social Worker from 1988-1993.

I moved to Sacramento in 1993 and have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1996. I joined Kaiser’s Department of Psychiatry in 1996, first working in the Kaiser Inpatient hospital. I then transferred to the Intensive Outpatient Program at the Sacramento Medical Center, where I served the role of a therapist for high-risk mental health patients. More recently, I transferred to the Folsom clinic where I work as a member of the Bipolar Disorder Team.

The Bipolar Disorder Pathway services are based on evidenced based treatment. Along with medication treatment, we provide educational classes regarding management and treatment of the disorder (both for patients and their families), psychotherapy groups focusing on interpersonal problems and routine changes that trigger mood episodes and some limited individual short-term psychotherapy when appropriate. A class on Mindfulness and Mood Management is also offered.

All of my Kaiser work experience has been in the Adult Services department. In my private life, I enjoy my numerous pets, hiking, belonging to a monthly book group and a monthly card group with friends. Of most importance is spending time with my family.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
