My Qualifications

I received my medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia and completed my internship and residency at the University of California Davis Medical Center. Prior to medical school, I worked as a researcher at UC Davis and completed a Master's degree in Anatomy. I am board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. After completing residency training, I was in private practice in the Bay Area and then joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1997 as the Lead Physician for the Occupational Health Clinic in Vacaville. I am currently Chief of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation/Pain Medicine departments at Sacramento and Roseville. My practice is now based at the Sacramento Medical Center where I see patients on the Rehabilitation Medicine consult service as well as in the outpatient clinic. I also serve on the regional Rehabilitation Advisory Board.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

My Healthcare Practice

My goal in caring for patients is to help them achieve optimal health and improved quality of life. My patient population is wonderfully diverse. I have a special interest in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, post-polio syndrome and neuromuscular disease. One of the most enjoyable aspects of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation practice is the long-term relationships I develop with many patients.

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

I joined the Permanente Medical Group because I believe Kaiser Permanente has the best integration of health services. This is crucial in providing quality care to patients with complicated medical needs. The educational opportunities within the Medical Group and close colloboration with both primary care and specialty physicians help me provide high quality care to my patients. I am also very lucky to work with a wonderful support staff including my medical assistant, Nalini Kumar.

My Outside Interests

Away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family, playing music, working in the garden and hiking.
