Welcome to my homepage! I am excited to be a member of Kaiser Oakland and I look forward to getting to know you soon!
I was born and raised in Michigan and after graduating from high school, I went to the University of Missouri-Kansas City to attend a 6-year program in which I obtained my BA and MD. I left the Midwest for the Big Apple, where I completed my residency in Internal Medicine at New York Methodist Hospital. I returned to my home state for my fellowship in hematology/oncology at Michigan State University, and then went back to New York, where I met my husband and practiced for four years with a prominent and busy private practice. I am board-certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology, and I am a member of the American Society of Hematology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
After years of trying to decide between the Midwest and the East Coast, my husband and I decided to move to the Bay Area, because while we are both dedicated to our jobs, we also know how important it is to enjoy life! The natural beauty of the area is unparalleled, and we are happy to be close to our extended family and friends. If we are not working, we are often enjoying time with loved ones, cooking, travelling, watching movies, and enjoying the outdoors.
I chose hematology/oncology as my specialty not only because I am interested in the science of blood disorders and cancer, but also because I feel it is an honor and privilege to care for my patients. I am continually astounded by their courage, grace and strength. I believe that if I carefully explain their diagnosis and treatment options to them, my patients feel that they are participating in their own health care, and they feel empowered to make the decisions which are right for them. I recognize the importance of quality of life and family in these decisions, and I encourage my patients to discuss these factors with me.
I enjoy practicing at Kaiser because I believe that the physicians here are enthusiastic about providing our patients with quality care. We communicate with each other in a way that is both beneficial and efficient for our patients. I enjoy having the freedom to do what is best for my patients, and I feel lucky to work with an oncology staff that is knowledgeable and compassionate. It is truly a team approach.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
