My Qualifications

I received my medical degree from Far Eastern University, Dr. N. Reyes Medical Foundation, in Manila, Philippines, where I graduated cum laude. I was named outstanding Junior Intern in Clerkship. I received the Scribes Laurel Award as Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper. I have received recognition and plaques for community service both in Manila and the Sacramento area. My residency was with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania in affiliation with Hahnemann University. I am board certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 2000. Before coming to work for Kaiser Permanente, I worked in a primary care practice in Manila, Philippines. I also worked as a senior clinical laboratory scientist at Kaiser San Francisco and then transferred to Kaiser Morse Avenue. I was in this capacity for a number of years before becoming a physician in the United States.

PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

My Healthcare Practice

As a primary care physician, I provide personalized care tailored to my patients’ needs on a daily basis. I allow patient participation in medical decisions involving their health. I am culturally sensitive.

Primary care is a challenging field of medicine. I want to be able to provide the initial interaction, treatment and follow-up of diseases, provide education for patients, offer preventive services and coordinate their care.

Besides English, I also speak Tagalog (Filipino).

Receiving Your Healthcare From Kaiser Permanente

The ability of physicians to directly admit patients to the hospital and coordinate and order necessary tests or imaging studies without authorization is one of the advantages of getting care from Kaiser Permanente. Another advantage is the team approach – the best care is provided by a variety of people – physicians, RN’s, NP’s, MA’s, etc., working as a team.

My Outside Interests

During my leisure time, I enjoy dancing, singing and movies. I like to travel with my family and visit famous cities in the United States and other countries.

I am currently the Medical Director of the Bayanihan Clinic, a not-for-profit community-based University of California Davis student-run free clinic in downtown Sacramento.

I teach and act as a preceptor for the UCD medical students.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
