About Me

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles area of Southern California. I graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1982 where I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I completed my Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) in 1987 at the University of Southern California. I am licensed by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in the State of California as a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

I have practiced psychotherapy as a generalist with children, adolescents and adults throughout the years, as well as in my specialty. I also have a special interest in Interpersonal Neurobiology.

I joined the Permanente Medical Group in June of 2000. I have been working with adults with eating disorders since 1993, and initially received my training at Northridge Hospital Medical Center in Northridge, California. I am currently practicing psychotherapy on the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Eating Disorders Pathway.

The Adult Outpatient Eating Disorders Program offers a multidisciplinary approach to treat adults diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa and Eating Disorder, NOS. The program is designed for individuals who have a low to moderate level of acuity of their illness and is available at the psychiatry departments in Sacramento and Roseville.

The goals of treatment include helping adult patients normalize their eating patterns, learn new coping skills, practice self-care and address underlying issues that led to the development of their eating disorder. Patients will undergo an assessment with the program therapist and registered nurse. Medication will be managed with the program psychiatrist or nurse practitioner and a registered dietician will assess and provide medical nutrition therapy. Patients will be provided with individual, family and/or group psychotherapy as deemed necessary according to individualized treatment plans.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
