I have been an Occupational Therapist with Kaiser Permanente since September 1995, when I joined the staff at Kaiser’s Neurosurgery Center in Redwood City. I transferred to Kaiser Santa Clara, and I now work both in the hospital and in the outpatient clinic. My specialty areas are in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders and rehabilitation of neurological dysfunction. In plain English, that means that I help people regain skills they need to do activities of daily life, which is what Occupational Therapy is all about!

At Santa Clara, I have had the pleasure of developing the Modified Barium Swallow Evaluation Program for inpatients and outpatients. This also gave me the opportunity to mentor several of our staff members so that we could expand the program. This program allows us to assess complex swallowing problems, one of the most important activities of daily living. I find it very rewarding to help people enjoy eating again, and I can think of no other work I’d rather be doing or place I’d rather be working!

Before coming to Kaiser Permanente, I worked in other hospitals, outpatient clinics and skilled nursing facilities. I even had my own private practice in rural Nevada. I graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and a minor in Gerontology. In my free time I enjoy gardening, hiking and traveling with my husband and dog, Lily, (a Bichon-Frise who was the first dog to view Paris from the Eiffel tower!)

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
