About Me

I received my Bachelors degree from Fordham University, N.Y in 1980 and my Masters degree in Social Work from Sacramento State University in 1985. I have worked with patients with eating disorders for over 25 years beginning with my work as an intern at U.C. Davis Medical Center. I have worked for Kaiser Permanente Department of Psychiatry for over 18 years. My experience includes working with children, teens, and adults.

For the past 5 years I have been the Manager of Kaiser's Eating Disorder Intensive Outpatient Program in Sacramento, located in the Fair Oaks Building.

The EDIOP is a multidisciplinary intensive eating disorder treatment program designed for adults and teens that are diagnosed with anorexia or bulimia. The program meets 2-3 times per week in a group setting for approximately 12 weeks and includes individual and family therapy, nutrition therapy, medical monitoring and program meals (2-3 times per week). The program is designed for those individuals who are at medical risk due to their eating disorder and who need a higher level of care than outpatient therapy or who need intensive follow up after being hospitalized in a medical or psychiatric setting for the eating disorder.

The goals of treatment include helping patients normalize their eating patterns, learn new coping skills, practice self-care, and address the underlying issues that led to the development of their eating disorder. The clinic is located in the Fair Oaks Building at 2345 Fair Oaks Blvd. See below for the days and times of the program.

Adult Program:

Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm

Teen Program:

Monday and Wednesday 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
