Thank you for visiting my home page. I am pleased to share more personal information about myself and my practice philosophy.

I was raised in a small town in rural Colorado and completed my medical school training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. This was followed by residency training in Family Medicine in Grand Forks, North Dakota. I practiced with Kaiser Permanente in Colorado for one year prior to joining the staff at the Elk Grove Clinic. Even though I miss Colorado, I've enjoyed many new adventures in California. We especially like taking our dog Max to the beach, visiting the mountains, and enjoying the warmer winter in California.

I was trained in several basic medical disciplines, including internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, and psychiatry. At this time, my practice primarily focuses on medical problems in adults.

As a family physician, much of my training focused on preventive medicine. I encourage my patients to get periodic medical exams in order to discuss screening tests that may be recommended in their age group. I strive to help my patients maintain "Healthy Lifestyle Habits", in the hopes of helping them stay healthy and active and feel good about themselves. This includes encouraging my patients to be physically active, eat right, maintain a healthy weight, and manage stress.

I will strive to ensure that your medical care is appropriate for your culture and traditions. Your personal values, including your beliefs, lifestyle, and experiences are important to me. All play a role in helping you and I make decisions about your health care together. I believe health care is a team effort.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
