Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my home page! I hope this page will help you learn a little bit about me and also point you to some useful internet health care resources.

I was born in New York City, and grew up in nearby Princeton, New Jersey. I studied international public policy at Harvard College, and worked in Nigeria and for the United Nations during my summers. I discovered I wanted to help women in my career, and decided that medicine was the most direct way that I could do that.

After college, I came to San Francisco and worked for a leading expert on contraception and family planning at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). During that time, I developed an interest in Latin America and began learning Spanish. I returned to Harvard for medical school, and spent several months in my last year there improving my medical Spanish by working in a hospital in Bolivia. After a few years back in Boston, I realized that my heart was in California. I returned to San Francisco to complete my residency at UCSF, met my husband and am now in the Bay Area to stay.

I chose to work for Kaiser Permanente because I wanted to focus all of my energy on taking care of my patients, rather than on the administrative aspects of running a private practice. I believe that listening to my patients is the most important thing I can do as a physician, and that my job is to enable women to make their own decisions about their health. I enjoy taking care of women from a variety of backgrounds, and love to speak Spanish with patients.

Away from work, I spend my time with my husband trying to keep up with our twins and our dog Lola. We love to be outside as much as possible—hiking, skiing or just playing in the sun.

I look forward to seeing you in my office and getting to know you!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
