My work days: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Hi, my name is Lenore Arnoux. I work in the Ob/Gyn department at the Kaiser Oakland Facility.

I joined Kaiser Oakland in 1995 as a Nurse Practitioner in the Ob/Gyn department. My role here is to provide care to the female patient. I provide services in prenatal, reproductive endocrinology and gynecology.

I joined the Kaiser Organization in March of 1986 as a new graduate and worked in the Post Partum Unit at Kaiser, San Francisco. I moved to Labor and Delivery and worked there for 7 years.

In 1992, I transferred to Novato Kaiser and worked as a High Risk Prenatal Nurse. It was a challenging job for me and during this time in my career as a nurse, I decided that I needed more out of nursing and made the decision to go back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. I applied to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and was accepted to their NP program. I graduated as an NP in March of '95 and came back to the Bay Area where I got my first job as a Nurse Practitioner at Kaiser Oakland.

I am an educator and have taught numerous classes from Childbirth Education to my present teaching position in The Art of Contraception, an infertility class offered twice a month. I worked in the Division of Research on two prominent projects involving hormone replacement. In January of 2004, I became a Nurse Practitioner III, an accomplishment I am very proud of. It is a step in the clinical ladder for NP's who have expanded roles in their fields. I am a member of the Peer Review Committee, a mentor for new hire NP's, and a member of the NP III Selection Committee. Presently, I am developing a curriculum for new residents at Kaiser on Sexually Transmitted Diseases in our Female and Prenatal population.

I see my role as an NP to be a supporting, caring health care provider to my diverse population. Women's Health has always been my passion. I enjoy the dimension it gives to my life and the unique challenges it provides me each day.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
