My Specialty and Why I Chose It

After receiving my medical degree from Medical Center of Fudan University (Former Shanghai Medical University) in Shanghai, China, I obtained a scholarship to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Cardiovascular Science at Baylor College of Medicine. I was subsequently absorbed, at Emory University and Yale University, in vigorous research activities of vessel diseases including atherosclerosis and vascular stenosis. Witnessing the discordant translation of research advancement into patient healthcare, I realized that the search for the answers to diseases also necessitated the scrupulous understanding of common human diseases with applicable expertise in disease management. I decided the return to clinical practice. The joy was overwhelming when I resurfaced my passion for the primary care. I then completed the Family Medicine residency at Texas Tech University.

My Practice Philosophy

Trained in Family Medicine, a specialty featuring the appreciation of the patient as a whole when a medical illness emerges, I thrive to engage the patient into the disease management. Every patient deserves the respectful encounter including but not limited to the cultural and ethnical attentiveness. I endeavor to provide the patient with accurate diagnoses arising partly from solid medical knowledge and experience, inform the patient of the most current perspectives on the medical problems concerned, unfold the judicious recommendations to the disease management, and facilitate the patient in making a confident and educated decision. I’m proud of coaching the patient to navigate and explore the realm of one’s own illnesses as a nonpareil experience of the personal journey.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

I have been fortunate to join the honorable practice at Kaiser Permanente as primary care physician. Kaiser Permanente pledges and anchors my fortified desires for establishing a patient-centered model, practicing evidence-based medicine, accentuating preventive measures, conducting imperative research in disease treatment and prevention, and achieving excellence in patient care.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
