About Me

I was born in Tehran, Iran and have been in the United States since 1984. I have a large extended family; however, most are scattered throughout the world, and my upbringing has been largely independent. My closest family members live in Oregon where I attended high school. I then went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where I obtained a degree in chemical engineering and prepared for continuing my education in medicine. I returned to the West Coast for medical school and spent the last ten years at the University of Southern California, where I completed medical school and my residency in Urology.

I am the newest member at Kaiser Oakland, having started in August of 2004. I had never really intended to move to Oakland, especially since my husband has one more year of surgical fellowship training in Southern California. But once I met the people in the group and saw what the facility had to offer, it seemed a natural fit. The quality of care is outstanding and the staff, at all levels, is friendly, helpful and compassionate.

While my residency training was heavily focused on Urologic Oncology and Urinary Reconstruction, I enjoy many aspects of general urology. I have a special interest in kidney stones and their variety of surgical treatment options. While not in the hospital, I enjoy biking and working out and am quite excited to explore the Bay Area’s wonderful biking trails.

I believe that you, as a patient, will also find our group as capable and welcoming as I have. We look forward to meeting you and helping you in any way possible.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
