About Me

My name is Laura Givant, M.D. I am a pediatrician here at the Sacramento Point West facility. That means that I would love to see any of your children from birth to 18 years of age. I have enjoyed this role at Kaiser Permanente since 1998 and have been exceptionally happy with my job for several reasons. First, and most importantly, I love working with children and their families. My hope is that we forge a bond that will help nurture your children into a happy and healthy adulthood. Secondly, I enjoy the freedom to practice medicine in a way that I feel is in the best interest of your children. To this end, I have a lot of resources to assist me in doing this ......close working relationships with colleagues, educational opportunities for both myself and my patients, helpful staff, and a diverse subspecialty team to name a few. Kaiser Permanente has also fostered my own personal interest in adolescent care. I organized and oversee the pediatric Teen Pregnancy Prevention Clinic at Point West. Additionally, I have also had many opportunities to pursue some administrative projects for my department.

Being born and raised in Sacramento I feel that I have strong ties to our community. I also have strong ties to our medical community since I did not only my medical school training but also my residency in pediatrics at U.C. Davis. These things help me understand some of the issues/concerns you may have with your children too. My three children also keep me very busy outside of work. With all our outdoor activities I usually see many of my patient's families either at school, soccer, and even at the grocery store. . .and yes, you usually will find me in a T-shirt and shorts on those occasions. Please come over and say hi if you see me but don't comment on my very informal attire on those occasions :-)

Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to visit my web site. Hopefully, I can meet you and get to know you and your children soon.

My Qualifications

My Credentials

Medical school UC Davis School of Medicine, Davis, CA
Internship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA

I joined The Permanente Medical Group in 1998. I work on the Credentials and Privileges Committee at Kaiser Permanente and as I stated above, I am also the pediatrician in charge of our Point West Teen Pregnancy Prevention Clinic.

My Healthcare Practice

I chose pediatrics because I enjoy working with children to help establish healthy lifestyles at an early age. One of my professional interests is teen pregnancy prevention.

My Outside Interests

When I’m not working, I enjoy doing many activities with my kids. I also enjoy a good Kings game.
