My Biography

After working many years in the business world, I decided to make a career change and returned to school to study Clinical Psychology. My goal was to work in substance abuse treatment with adolescents. Over the course of my training I worked with many different populations but always seems to drift back to substance abuse treatment in one form or another.

My undergraduate degree is from San Francisco State University where I graduated cum laude with a degree in Clinical Psychology. I received both my Masters and Doctoral degrees from the California School of Professional Psychology, Alameda, in Clinical Psychology. I moved to Connecticut for one year for a pre-doctoral internship at the VA in West Haven. I returned to California and completed my post-doctoral fellowship at the Kaiser CDRP in Santa Clara. I transferred to Kaiser South San Francisco in 1998.

I have worked in substance abuse treatment since 1992. I am currently the program director for the Adolescent Drug and Alcohol Program here in South San Francisco. In addition to my work with adolescents and their families, I also work with substance abusing adults. I am also honored to be a union steward for SEIU Local 535.

I feel very fortunate to work with such a wonderful group of caring individuals who strive to provide the best treatment possible for patients. The disease of addiction impacts us all. It is a difficult problem to overcome but it is possible to overcome it. We all need a little help from time to time to help us combat life's struggles. If you have a problem with substances or someone you love has a problem with substances I hope you will give us a call. You will be accepted and helped by a wonderful group of peole who believe recovery is possible for everyone -- including you!
