My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a podiatrist. I specialize in the treatment of the foot and ankle. My practice encompasses all aspects of surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle including trauma, congenital deformities, acquired deformities, and sports medicine.

My Practice Philosophy

I believe in evidence based medicine and prevention as the cornerstone for success in treatment. I expect my patients to fully participate in their own care and enjoy teaching them to understand their condition. I am a current member of the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. I keep up with the rapidly changing field of podiatry by attending national meetings, participating in subspecialty courses, hands-on laboratories, reading in specialty journals, and participating in weekly conference reviews for the Musculoskeletal Department.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been part of the Sacramento Kaiser Permanente Department of Podiatry since the fall of 2005. I have come to fully appreciate the electronic medical record which allows me instant access to information. It also allows immediate and direct communication between the providers which is paramount to ensuring the best medical care possible for our members.

I enjoy being a part of a large team that allows me the unique opportunity to interact and consult with other medical specialists, a practice I believe only improves the care our members receive. My goal is to provide the highest quality of care for our members in both a pleasant and non-intimidating atmosphere.

Professional Interests & Affiliations

In March of 2005, I completed a fellowship at the Ilizarov Scientific Center in Kurgon, Russia.

  • Diplomate, American Board of Podiatric Surgery
  • Fellow, American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons
  • Member, American Podiatric Medical Association
  • Member, California Podiatric Medical Association

On a Personal Note. . .

I was born in San Luis Obispo, California and raised in the central coast of California. My undergraduate education began at UC Davis where I completed my pre-medical education and majored in psychology. At that time, I spent all of my free time playing soccer, rock climbing, skydiving and mountain biking. After sustaining a foot injury, I entered podiatry school in San Francisco where I found my true passion and as a bonus, met my husband. After completing four years of podiatry school I began my internship at the VA Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico and found myself eager to return to the North Valley of which I had become so fond during my collegiate years. I completed my three year surgical residency here at Kaiser Sacramento and was honored to be offered a position with this hospital. Although not as daring as we once were, both my husband and I enjoy the close proximity Sacramento affords to Tahoe which allows us to continue to practice snowboarding and mountain biking.
