I was born in Los Angeles but grew up in El Paso, Texas. I returned to California to attend Stanford University, where I was a member of the Women’s Gymnastics Team. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology in 1984 and later went back to Texas to earn my Physical Therapy degree. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and became board certified to practice Physical Therapy in the state of California in 1989.

I joined the staff at Kaiser Permanente in 1991 after two years at the Palo Alto Medical Clinic. My specialty is in rehabilitating orthopedic and sports injuries, using manual and physical treatment along with exercise, to achieve the best functional outcome possible. Since 1999 I have also been a message board moderator for Kaiser Permanente’s national, members-only web site. Check it out at www.members.kp.org!

On a personal note, I am married and have three active children. When I’m not at a swim meet, soccer game, or driving a carpool, I love to hike or attend exercise classes. I’d love to hear about your favorite kind of exercise, because I’d like to try it!

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
