Welcome to My Home Page!
The mental health field is exciting to me because it helps me to understand how the mind works. I take great pride in helping others to find the strength within them to move through and beyond their difficulties. I firmly believe Kaiser Permanente is a strong, supportive organization and am happy to have joined the mental health team in 2008.
My patients can expect that I will partner with them in their care in a detailed but casual manner. I strive to present my patients with different treatment options and work with them to make the best decisions about their care. In this complicated world, I strongly hold to two cornerstones of medication treatment: Less is best, and keep it simple.
Throughout my academic teaching career at several universities, and my child psychiatry research experience, I have maintained a particular clinical interest in pediatric mood and anxiety disorders. I have trained many medical students, interns, and residents/fellows, and use that knowledge to educate and motivate all my patients and their caregivers. I believe life is a journey; my job is to try to help my patients go through it without the brake light on!
In my free time, I enjoy music, meditation and being outside.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
