Why I am a Kaiser Permanente physician

I am proud to have recently joined one of the oldest, most experienced nonprofit health care organizations in the country. Kaiser Permanente strives to provide patients with high quality and innovative care. Patients have access to first-rate educational programs and learn the importance of preventative medicine. Practicing at Kaiser Permanente allows me to make decisions based on what I think is best for the patient. I am also surrounded by great colleagues and specialists should you need further care.

Why I am a primary care physician

I have always been drawn to outpatient internal medicine because of the comprehensive nature of this field. I like how it demands a broad range of knowledge and allows me to interact with a wide variety of patients. In primary care, each day I find that I am not only a physician but also a diagnostician, technician, counselor, therapist, coordinator of care, teacher, student, and friend. Moreover, this field allows me to provide continuity of care and emphasize disease prevention and health care maintenance. My goal is to provide high quality, comprehensive care with compassion.

About Me

I grew up in Modesto, California in a family of nine. I went to college at UC Davis and medical school at UCSF, graduating in 2001. I then completed my residency training at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. From here, I joined Kaiser Permanente in 2004. During residency I met and married my husband. When not caring for patients, my husband and I like to explore the outdoors. We enjoy hiking, camping, and backpacking. I also enjoy cooking, gardening, and traveling to new places. Because family and friends are important to us, we keep our families and friends active in our lives. I have been a member of the American College of Physicians and will be looking into joining other professional associations.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
