Although I grew up on the East Coast, I fell in love with California at first sight. My husband is a local schoolteacher. Initially I studied to be a marine biologist, but I found that I liked people too much to spend my life with fish.

I worked at several different Emergency Departments during my training, but I chose to work at Kaiser Oakland as a career. It is a fabulous place to work. I find that the system functions well here. My colleagues and I are able to provide excellent, comprehensive care to our patients. I like Kaiser’s emphasis on preventative care, and I like the fact that my patients have access to excellent primary care and good follow up after their visit to the ED. Because of this, my family and I come here for our medical care as well.

Joined Kaiser in: 2003
Other languages: conversational Spanish
Hobbies: Running, cycling, yoga, dogs, home improvement, travel.
Medical Interest: International Health

Strange facts: I lived several years in a boys’ school dormitory. I figure that in some strange way this helped prepare me for a career in emergency medicine. I’ve also worked in medical clinics in the Caribbean, Honduras and Mexico.

My Credentials

Medical school Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC
Residency Highland General Hospital, Oakland, CA
Board certification Emergency Medicine, American Board of Emergency Medicine

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
