My Credentials

Medical school UC Irvine School of Medicine, Irvine, CA
Internship UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Residency UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

I joined the Permanente Medical Group in 1995. I am on the volunteer clinical faculty at U.C. Davis, and I enjoy teaching bedside medicine to students, interns and residents from U.C. Davis.

My Practice

I believe that the basis of good healthcare begins with a good patient-physcian relationship based on communication, trust, and mutual respect.

I enjoy practicing as a hospital-based specialist in both Sacramento and in Roseville. By practicing in the hospital, I feel that I am better able to stay on top of the changes in medicine, and thus take better care of my patients. Though not fluent, I do speak Spanish.

Why I Chose to Practice at Kaiser Permanente

I have been a Kaiser Permanente physician since 1995. Here, I am able to practice medicine that is patient-centered. I have the freedom to practice medicine the way that I want to so that I can do what is best for each patient. I value being in a large group where advice and information from my subspecialist colleagues is just a phone call away. I appreciate that at Kaiser Permanente, physicians and staff all work together as a team.

My Outside Interests

I most enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. I have a daughter and a son. I love to travel. My wife and I have travelled extensively through Asia and South America. A highlight for us was doing medical volunteer work in Calcutta, India, and in Potosi, Bolivia. I also enjoy reading, and playing guitar.

An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
