My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I work as an outpatient physical therapist and specialize in treating patients with orthopedic musculoskeletal problems. When I evaluate a patient I look at all areas that can potentially contribute to the problems that they come to physical therapy for. I design programs that help the patient recover from their musculoskeletal problems. My practice setting allows me the time and resources to try and improve the patient’s understanding of their dysfunction, go over changes that they can make to prevent further injuries and improve their overall health.

My Practice Philosophy

My treatment philosophy is based on listening to the patient’s problems, concerns and goals. After a complete evaluation I can identify the musculoskeletal problems that we can work on in physical therapy. I then work with the patient to determine the best course of intervention. With this approach I hope to help the person achieve the highest level of function based on their individual needs.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I came on board at Kaiser Permanente in February, 2006. I have been involved in multiple programs to help enhance the care of Kaiser Permanente members. I helped in the creation of a Web based shoulder impingement program designed for patient’s to use to complement their care. I have presented rehabilitation and self help programs to physicians that help address the needs of our members. I am involved in the mentoring and continuing education of the physical therapy staff and physical therapy students during their internships at our facility. I look forward to exploring many other programs to help facilitate the needs of both current and future Kaiser Permanente patients.

Why I Like to Practice at Kaiser Permanente

Our state of the art computer based medical charting known as Health Connect gives me immediate access to clinical information that makes my daily responsibilities much easier to manage. I appreciate the close availability of doctors and other specialists. The multifaceted team approach enables the Kaiser member to obtain a full and complete range of good care. Kaiser takes its care one step further and also concentrates on preventative care. This is a component of care that can help a tremendous amount of people. I also enjoy the opportunity of helping other physical therapist’s improve their clinical skills through staff education programs. This helps to positively impact a larger number of patients.
