I joined TPMG in 1997 after spending 6 years in medical research. I received my medical training in the UK, came to US as a post-graduate scientist first at the Johns Hopkins, then Stanford and never went back! My specialty is in diabetic complications in type 1 diabetes. I published extensively in the 1990s but my academic career is largely over now. I do enjoy the challenge of clinical medicine.

I picked Kaiser because it is the closest medical system to the UK National Health I was trained in. Two years ago, I switched from outpatient to that of hospital-based medicine but still continue to serve as the Diabetes Champion of the medical center. I like the acuity of hospital work, and my current schedule allows me more flexibility to develop outside interests.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
