About Me

I joined the Kaiser Permanente team in 2008 after completing my medical training in Philadelphia and San Francisco. During my training, I had the good fortune of spending time working in the Northern California Kaiser system and was impressed with the quality of service and the strength of the integrated team approach to patient care. Being a doctor at Kaiser allows me great freedom to focus primarily on patient care — my favorite part of my job. My work here and my teaching position at University of California San Francisco give me access to the most up-to-date treatments in the field. I am thrilled to be a member of the Kaiser Oakland community and look forward to being part of your medical team.

My area of expertise is in corneal diseases and uveitis. The most common problems I treat are infections, inflammatory conditions and degenerative disorders of the cornea as well as infections and inflammatory conditions that affect the rest of the eye. Corneal transplantation is a large portion of my surgical practice. In recent years there have been remarkable advances in this area that allow us to offer some of our patients less invasive surgeries with quicker recovery time.

As recent transplants from the East Coast, my wife and I are enjoying exploring the Bay area and all that it has to offer. We love the year-round pleasant weather and the access to outdoor activities. I enjoy golfing, tennis, skiing, snowboarding, and hiking.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
