About Me

My Credentials

Medical school Georgetown University School of Medicine, Washington, DC
Internship Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA
Residency Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX
Board certification Radiation Oncology, American Board of Radiology

I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. After completing my undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and German at the University of California at Berkeley, I attended the School of Medicine at Georgetown University.

Upon my graduation from residency, I accepted an invitation to stay on at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, where I performed thoracic oncology research and teaching as an Assistant Professor for two and one-half years. I treat all types of cancers, but have particular interest in breast, lung, and prostate cancers. In 2002, my wife and I moved with our two children back to the Bay Area to join Kaiser Permanente in opening the Rohnert Park Cancer Center to treat KP members from Sonoma and Marin Counties.

More recently, we have moved back to the East Bay, so I could serve as Chief of Radiation Oncology at Oakland Medical Center. Currently our patients are seen and treated at our cancer center located in Hayward, but plans are underway to build a new cancer center in Oakland within the next few years.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
