Hello. Welcome to my home page!

I am an internist working in the Orthopedic Department. I had a panel practice for many years and I enjoyed my relationship with my patients. As time went on, the demands of family life grew too difficult to balance with a busy panel practice. In 2000, I reluctantly said farewell to my own group of patients and took a position within Orthopedics. In this department, I function as a musculoskeletal physician.

Personal Health care
Your health care truly rests in your own hands. Physicians can diagnose and make recommendations, but only you determine your diet, your fitness level and your health habits. Staying fit and active are important to your health and well being. Staying trim or losing weight is a crucial part of the management of arthritis in the knees or hips. We have resources here in health education and behavioral medicine to help you with these concerns.

There are handouts in the Home Exercise folder on the left “sidebar.” I may refer you to some of these specifically when I see you in the clinic. You can print these out for yourself to learn more about your condition and start recovering at home.

About Me
I am a native of the Bay Area. I attended Scripps College which specializes in a great humanities curriculum which I loved, but I also always loved science and math. After medical school at U.C. Davis, I trained in internal medicine at Valley Medical Center in San Jose. After training, it was a natural move to return to Kaiser Oakland, where I received my own health care growing up.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, exercising, and being outdoors. I exercise at The Works Dance and Exercise Studio:

Why I work at Kaiser Oakland
Kaiser offers me the means to first and foremost concentrate on patient care. There are conferences and lectures here to keep us up to date with the latest developments in medicine. I have wonderful colleagues here who are superb physicians. This is a great place to practice the science and art of medicine.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
