Joining Kaiser East Bay has brought me full circle. I was born at Kaiser and raised in the Bay Area to multicultural parents. My parents inspired me through their examples as immigrant and Peace Corp volunteer, teaching me to be culturally sensitive and stressing the importance of using my skills/education for the betterment of others. My mother fondly remembers how inherently fascinated I was with childbirth so it was no surprise when I chose to pursue a career in medicine and eventually narrowed to OB/GYN. I studied psychobiology at UCLA before entering medical school in Chicago at Loyola Stritch. I enjoyed that medicine not only challenged me academically but also socially. I searched for a constantly evolving field that would keep me on my toes with its variety of roles and allow me to connect with people throughout their lifespan. OB/GYN was that perfect match! Away for 10 years, I was committed to returning to my roots for residency and I was fortunate to match at Kaiser Oakland. I received fantastic medical/surgical training at the culturally diverse community-oriented medical center with state of the art technology and readily available interdisciplinary teaching. More importantly I learned patience and compassion by heeding the example of the kindhearted, welcoming medical center staff…. from fellow residents/attendings to nurses to page operators to environmental service staff. It’s no wonder I jumped at the chance to stay!

I truly consider myself lucky to join the Kaiser East Bay Women’s Health Department and OB/GYN Residency Training program. I look forward to caring for each and every one of my patients in the upcoming years and learning from each of you. Even better, I hope to see you while walking around Lake Merritt, perusing through the weekend farmer’s market, or sampling tapas around the Bay.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
