My Specialty and Why I Chose It

The specialty of neurosurgery provides surgical treatment for disorders of the brain, spine and peripheral nerves. I chose this specialty because it is challenging and requires a high degree of precision and accuracy. It offers me the potential to make a great positive impact on the lives of my patients.

My Practice Philosophy

My practice philosophy combines my training and fund of knowledge with the presentation of my patients’ complaints. I favor the least invasive method that will provide the highest chance of success. I believe patient involvement with decision making is the key to managing expectations and obtaining the best possible outcomes.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I started with Kaiser Permanente in 2002 as a neurosurgery resident from UC Davis. I rotated here at 6 month intervals and was introduced to the quality of care Kaiser Permanente delivers. I later took on more responsibility as a part time physician from 2004-2006. I worked closely with the neurosurgery team and was offered a full time position beginning in 2008. I am looking forward to a long career with Kaiser Permanente providing quality care to its members and the community.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

Working at Kaiser Permanente allows me to practice medicine without the constraints of a fee-for-service environment. With the Kaiser Permanente system, medical decision making can be based solely on the best predictable outcomes for my patients. As an institution, its members benefit from its massive medical collaboration between the many multi-specialties. This multidisciplinary approach improves quality of life and promotes healthy lifestyles, prevention and health maintenance.
