About Me
I spent much of my youth living in Norway and thus developed a great appreciation for the outdoors. I enjoy skiing, hiking, cycling, boating and just about anything else outside under the sun. My hobbies include nature photography and restoring my Volkswagen Beetle that I bought when I was 18 years old. A few samples of my photography can be seen below.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1993 and can honestly say I am proud to be part of this team. In the last few years, Kaiser has repeatedly been recognized nationally in the areas of health quality, service, and excellence. This is the direct result of each department at each hospital and clinic making it their primary goal to take better care of our patients. Since joining Kaiser more than 10 years ago, the Oakland Kaiser Emergency Department has continually worked to improve the care you receive and to improve your experience while in the emergency department. Because of these high standards, I not only work for Kaiser Permanente, but also I have chosen for my own family to receive their health care here as well. I am very confident with my choices.
A visit to the emergency room is almost always an unplanned and very stressful time. Should the unfortunate circumstances arise such that you must visit the emergency room, I want you to know that I will do my very best to give you the best medical care available, in a timely and humane manner.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
