My Qualifications

I was born in Vietnam and immigrated to the United States in 1975. My family settled in Southern California, but I moved to the Bay Area to do my undergraduate work in physiology at the University of California, Berkeley. There, I graduated Phi Beta Kappa with highest honors and a 4.0 grade point average. I received my medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1995 and trained in the Internal Medicine – Primary Care program at Valley Medical Center in San Jose.

I joined Kaiser Milpitas in 1998. There, in addition to seeing patients, I served on the Quality Assurance Committee, on the Community Benefits Committee, as a mentor to new physicians, as a supervisor to our nurses-in-extended roles, and as Chief of Health Education.

About Me

I met my wife at UCSF. We married the day after graduation from medical school and pharmacy school, respectively, and came to settle in the South Bay. We have two young daughters: Jordan, born in 1997 and Riley, born in 1998. Although our professional lives were very rewarding, the overcrowding and ever-rising cost of living in Silicon Valley prompted my wife and me to look for a life elsewhere. With the encouragement of friends already living in Folsom, we came to settle here in 2002.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
