Welcome to my Home Page

One of the most frequent question I am asked by new patients is “How did you get the name Jacinto?” My parents emigrated from China to Peru and started a family in Latin America. I was born in Lima, Peru and named after San Jacinto. The English translation of San Jacinto is Saint Hyacinth. Saint Hyacinth was a 12th century Dominican missionary who spread Christianity through northern Europe. I lived in Peru until the age of twelve when my family moved to Fresno. I have lived in Fresno since except for my time away in optometry school at Berkeley.

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since 1987, about a year after the Fresno Medical Offices opened. I enjoy practicing at Kaiser Permanente since I can concentrate all my energy on patient care. My function as an optometrist is to provide primary care of the eyes. This function includes providing best visual acuity, binocular vision and maintaining good ocular health. I attend seminars and conferences frequently to keep up to date in my field.

I enjoy catching up on movies and listening to music in my spare time. I like to travel to new places and try new foods when I get a chance. I am also an avid sports fan and my favorite sports are baseball and football.

This webpage is a good source for information related to the eyes. You can look up common eye disorders and learn about treatment options. I will be happy to be your optometrist if you need my services.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
