About Me

I received my undergraduate and my medical degree from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany. During medical school in 1997 I decided to spend a two-month rotation at University of Southern California, mainly at the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. I was involved in breast cancer research as part of my medical school thesis, looking at Her-2/neu and its role in carcinogenesis. Instead of the planned two months I ended up staying for an entire year. I enjoyed my experience so much that I decided to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, WA.

I have been practicing at Kaiser Permanente since 2005. I am board-certified in Internal Medicine, and one of my special interests is teaching our Internal Medicine residents at Kaiser Permanente. I am a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Society of Hospital Medicine. In my free time I like to hike and travel with my husband who is in the process of completing a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
