My Specialty and Why I Chose It

Provide a description of your specialty and why you chose it: I am an internal medicine physician. As an internal medicine physician I have the opportunity to manage a wide spectrum of medical conditions including critically ill patients and patients with multiple acute and chronic medical problems. I always liked to be challenged and was taught to strive for excellence. I enjoy interacting with my peers and being an internal medicine physician gives me the chance to do so.

My Practice Philosophy

Internal medicine gives me the opportunity to sit with my patients and explain about the particular disease we are dealing with, and the appropriate course of treatment. I take great pleasure in educating the patient, while at the same time establishing a long term relationship with the patient and his/her family. While dealing with important medical decisions many times every day, I always ask myself "What would I do or advice, if this patient was one of my family members?" this is my practice philosophy.

My Credentials

Medical school Damascus University, Damascus, Syria
Residency UC San Francisco, Fresno, CA
Board certification Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been a part of Kaiser Permanente since 2006.

Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente

After completing my training in Internal Medicine in 2006 I had a major life altering decision to make, but thankfully it was not a difficult one. I had to choose where I wanted to start my career. And for me I knew I wanted to work with Kaiser Permanente it was just a matter of picking a location. There are several reasons why I wanted to work with Kaiser Permanente. When choosing a place to work, my first objective was to find a place where I felt comfortable and at home. This was definitely the case at Kaiser. I wanted to work with a staff that was hard working, compassionate, caring and friendly. And once again all this was found within the Kaiser staff.

My Professional Interests and Affiliations

UCSF Fresno 2005-2006 Internal Medicine Research Day - 2nd Place.

On a Personal Note…

In 1998 I met and married my wife. We have two wonderful kids that keep us on our toes all day long.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and working on computers.
