I am an Emergency Medicine doctor for Kaiser Permanente at the Morse Avenue and Roseville facilities. I originally hail from Seattle, Washington where I completed my Undergraduate and Medical School training at the University of Washington. After medical school I completed a Pediatric Residency at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Anxious to get back to the West coast, and interested in a career with more diversity and excitement, I came to Sacramento and completed a Residency at UC Davis in Emergency Medicine. I am one of two physicians in our group (the other being, Dr. Dave Berman) to be both residency trained and boarded in both Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine. To my knowledge, we are the only two such trained physicians in the community!

I love working in the Emergency Department (ED) for many reasons. Every day in the ED is wonderfully different and challenging. I take care of a great group of patients who are for the most part hard-working, kind and involved in their health and well-being. I work with wonderful physicians who are fun, bright and dedicated to their work.

When I finished my training, there were several opportunities in the community for me to work. I chose to work for Kaiser because: Kaiser has an integrated system that allows me to access a person's medical history, recent doctor visits, labs, etc. This system makes it so much easier for me to take care of my patient's appropriately. I am able to order the tests that I believe my patients need without getting approval from any insurance company. I have a large number of consultants to call on for support in helping take care of my patients. I am proud to have my own family covered by Kaiser Permanente and have been impressed with the health care we have received.

I am a strong believer in taking an active participation in my own health and health care. I see daily the ravages of addiction and the discovery of unexpected health problems. These experiences have given me some lessons to live by. Enjoy every day of this wonderful life we are given. Spend time and joy with the ones you love. Avoid tobacco and drink alcohol in moderation. Exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. Take advantage of all the health prevention Kaiser has to offer.

Personally, I live with my husband and two children on ten acres outside of Auburn. Our neighbors include local deer, coyotes, wild turkeys and skunks(ugh!). When not working, spending time with my family and de-skunking my dog, I enjoy running, kayaking, reading, knitting and exploring beautiful Northern California.

I look forward to meeting you on the running trails, at the local PTA meetings or in the Emergency Department.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
