Special clinical interests: My special clinical interest is in diabetes and optimizing management of patients with diabetes in the inpatient setting. The explosion in the prevalence of diabetes and the frequency of hospitalization for complications poses a great opportunity for those of us working in inpatient medicine to make improvements in how we manage these patients and to improve their outcomes.

About Me

I have chosen a career in hospital-based internal medicine because I have the luxury of a job that is different each and every day. Rather than focusing on one organ or system I have the opportunity to see everything - which makes my job new and interesting every day of the week. I believe that to be a good physician you have to enjoy your work - and I can honestly say that seeing my patients makes my job fun.

I also believe the practice of medicine is not about black and white, but instead about shades of grey. Rarely is there one absolute right answer to the exclusion of all others, and sometimes our job involves choosing the least damaging or dangerous of a number of less than ideal options. I believe my role as a physician is to provide you, the patient, with the tools and information to make decisions for your health and your body.

I have just completed my residency and am joining Kaiser as my first "real" job. I grew up a Kaiser patient, and much of my family are still Kaiser patients. During my training, I was blessed with the opportunity to practice at a number of different institutions, a university referral center, a busy county hospital, and a number of private hospitals - and I can honestly say the care given at Kaiser rivals each of these organizations. I admire the committment to primary and preventative care, and consider it a privilege to work here.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
