I grew up in San Jose, attended high school in the local area and then went to Pacific Union College (Napa County), where I graduated with a degree in Biochemistry and Theology. While in college, I spent a year in Japan and worked a student missionary. I then went to Loma Linda University Medical School, where I received my MD. Since I received a scholarship from the US Navy, I did an internship in internal medicine at Naval Hospital Oakland and then went to Naval Airstation Pensacola where I completed surgeon's training. I then spent the next 3 years working as the flight surgeon for Carrier Airwing Two. I was based in NAS Whidbey Island (WA), where I did my residency in Psychiatry. That was then followed up by a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of Washington.

Since most of my family & friends live in the Bay Area, I moved back to the Bay Area and became part of the staff at Kaiser Milpitas in 2000. Several years after that, I assumed the role of Assistant Chief of our department. Our department is comprised of many highly qualified & diverse individuals, all of whom want to provide you with the highest quality care along with the best service possible.

In my "other life", I spend time doing numerous things such as spending time with my family, going to concerts, and doing a lot of hiking/photography. Remember, "Life is fragile; live in the present." (HMS).

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
