About Me

I graduated from UC Berkeley and got my MD from UC Irvine. Then I did a rotating internship at Highland General Hospital in Oakland. The next two years, I was the Medical Director of the Hayward Community Health Center before going back and finishing my training, completing a Family Practice Residency at San Jose Hospital. From there, I came directly here to Oakland Kaiser in 1980, fully expecting to spend a year here before going into private practice. It didn’t take me long to realize that this was the way I wanted to practice my whole career, and I have been here ever since. I found the quality of care rivals if not exceeds that of any university training center including UCSF and Stanford, and the camaraderie and expertise makes me proud to be a part of the professional staff.

My particular area of interest and expertise is joint injections, having trained many of our current staff and medical residents in the various injection techniques. I still enjoy sharing some of the experience I have picked up over the years with the Medicine residents who do outpatient rotations in my clinic.

My personal interests include cooking, particularly baking, and puttering around in the garden. Now that the kids have left home, I hope to have some time for home remodeling, woodworking and more book reading.

How Can I Lose Weight?

I don’t have any energy. I’m tired.

I feel dizzy. I have a headache. I think I have high blood pressure.

What’s the easiest way to get my medicines refilled?

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
