Hello!

Welcome to my Home Page.
Please let me tell you a little about myself.

I am an internist and with a specialization in Infectious Diseases. I have always been fascinated by infectious diseases and the organisms that cause these illnesses. Figuring out the cause of an infection is similar to being a detective trying to solve a mystery. After making a diagnosis, it is very gratifying for me to be able to prescribe the correct treatment and then watch my patient get well.

I practice my specialty of Infectious Diseases at both the Oakland and Richmond Medical Centers. I work in Infection Control at both facilities and am the chairperson of the Infection Control Committee. In addition, I practice in the urgent care clinic at the Oakland Medical Center.

My interests include hiking, music, travel, cross-country skiing, reading both fiction and nonfiction books, and above all, spending time with my family.

I consider myself to be a very conscientious physician. I enjoy interacting with my patients and feel it is very important for patients to have input into their own medical care. I like practicing at Kaiser because I can spend my time doing what I enjoy most--taking care of patients. I feel privileged to work with such a dedicated group of physicians who practice a very high standard of medicine.

Please check out More Infectious Diseases handouts for easy reference!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
