About Me
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1998 after three years in academic medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. I was on staff at San Francisco General Hospital before making the move to Kaiser Permanente. I served as Chief of Obstetrics for 1 ½ years prior to coming to Kaiser Permanente.
I joined Kaiser Permanente for many reasons. First and most importantly, I believe Kaiser Permanente provides the some of the best care in California and the country! Here at Kaiser Permanente I am free to provide the care patients need and want, without having to consult with an insurance company. I also enjoy seeing a wide variety of patients from all walks of life and many different countries. I am fluent in Spanish and see many Spanish speaking patients.
I decided to be a doctor at an early age, probably under the influence of my mother, a critical care nurse. It was first from her that I learned to treat my patients as I would want my wife, mother, or sister treated. I enjoy getting to know my patients as real people, and together we are partners in health care. I also enjoy serving our community - volunteering at the Teddy Bear Clinic.
I practice the full spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology, from low and high risk pregnancy, to well women care, to operative gynecology including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and pelvic reconstructive surgery. I have a particular interest and training in urogynecology, the treatment of female incontinence and pelvic floor disorders (prolapse, etc.). I am a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a member of the American Urogynecologic Association, and the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
While I truly enjoy working as an Ob/Gyn for Kaiser Permanente, the most important thing in my life is my family! My wife (my soul mate and best friend) and I have been married since 1991 and together we have two beautiful children. Our son Dylan was born to us in 1995 and is much smarter than I am. My daughter Julia was born in China in 2001 and came to us through international adoption. She has me completely wrapped around her finger (as my wife would tell you). As a family, we enjoy camping, skiing, biking, and kayaking.
I look forward to seeing you in my office!

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
