Welcome to my Home Page
For those new to this site, I have written a little about me and how I practice psychiatry. I hope you will take the time to read what I’ve written. I am enthusiastic about using the Web as a way of communicating with you, providing you with links to informative sites and enhancing your experience at Kaiser Permanente. My goal in working with you is to collaborate with you in improving your quality of life.
About Me
I was born, raised and educated on the East Coast and came to California later in life. I went into psychiatry as I was always curious about what motivates people. After many years of practice, I’m still curious and rewarded in this field. At the same time, like all of medicine, it’s an opportunity to do good things for people.
I have been in private practice for many years. I came to Kaiser 14 years ago. With the coming of managed care, I found it necessary to spend even more time in the business of medicine. I was spending more and more time fighting with insurance companies and less time caring for people. Kaiser freed me from this. I have been grateful ever since. I can do more of what is good for my patients based on their medical needs rather than what accountants tell me to do.
I want my patients to know that if they have urgent needs, it is best for them to call the department or the nurses, rather than my office, because I spend a lot of time in hospital care.
If you'll click on "Mental Health Information and Web Sites" in the blue box at the top left of my Home Page, you'll find lots of useful information on a variety of topics such as Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Eating Disorders and others. Please feel free to explore the various links on my Home Page. I want you to get the information you need, and to be able to find answers to as many of your questions as possible. You can look things up at your own pace, in private, anonymously.
I hope you are as pleased with what we offer as I am.

Disclaimer
If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
