Welcome to my home page!

My name is Dr. Gabe Farkas and I am an obstetrician/gynecologist. As such I treat diseases that are peculiar and particular to women. Now my practice is primarily dealing with issues related to menopause, birth control, sexually transmitted diseases and infertility.

I received my undergraduate degree in Biology from UC Berkeley in 1969. After getting my medical degree from UC Irvine in 1974, I spent my residency in Kaiser San Francisco and eventually joined Kaiser San Rafael, in the then brand new hospital, in 1977.

I had always wanted to be a Kaiser doc since childhood when my family was taken care of at the Grand Street Kaiser in South San Francisco. My father, the local shoe store owner, always admonished me not to be a Kaiser doc as he always pointed out the old, worn out shoes our doctors wore. He was convinced that I’d never make a decent living and thus never be happy at Kaiser. Needless to say joining this medical group was the best decision of my life.

In my spare time I perform, lead, arrange and write music for a Klezmer group called Klezmer Soul. We perform throughout the Bay Area and have a great time. I also love to swim, read and interact with my computer. Finally, I volunteer my time to the middle and high schools of Marin County bringing a program called “Worth the Wait” to the kids teaching them the causes, complications and long term implications of sexually transmitted diseases.

I am proud to be a member of such an outstanding department and medical group and am especially excited that we are now able to offer our membership services in Mill Valley. The combined medical offices of Pediatrics and OB/GYN in Southern Marin will no doubt be a huge success. Take care and I look forward to seeing you at your next appointment.

My Credentials

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
