Welcome to my Home Page.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I’ve been here at Oakland Kaiser, Department of Psychiatry, since 2001. Prior to that, I worked at the Vacaville Kaiser for 6 years, also in Psychiatry. Mostly, I see individual patients, but I also facilitate a couple of Panic Disorder treatment groups. I also spend a morning one day each week working in the Intensive Outpatient Program. Although I work with people with many different concerns, I have a special interest in working with people who are anxious. I firmly believe in the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach that is used in our classes and groups. (You’ll see a link to get info on these classes on the left hand side of this page). How one thinks and behaves most definitely affects how one feels! I like to brainstorm with folks about things they can do to feel and function better.

In addition to the clinical aspects of my work, I enjoy working with media—particularly video—to impart information about mental health and to inspire people to be happier and more fulfilled. I played a major part in the production of the psychiatry department’s videos on Anxiety and Depression. Click “Mental Health Information and Web Sites”, and you can easily find your way to those videos. (If you do view them, please be sure to complete the survey at the end). I certainly hope to be involved in more of these kinds of projects.

I hope to add more links and helpful information from time to time. Thanks again for stopping by.

An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
