My Specialty and Why I Chose It

I am a primary care physician certified by the American Medical Board in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. I chose to specialize in Geriatrics because of my grandfather, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I was also influenced by the experience I gained at Unity Health Systems in Rochester, where as a resident, I took care of many elderly patients.

At Kaiser Permanente I work both as a primary care and hospital-based physician, where I get to see patients of teen to geriatric age groups. I like seeing patients in a role that allows me to connect with them broadly. For example, I do not limit myself to their current illness but also try and understand their family and community background as it may play a part in a patient’s health care.

My Practice Philosophy

My professional goal is to help my patients and their families understand the patient’s medical condition, encourage preventive check-ups, and at times assist them in making difficult decisions. I take extra time to ensure my geriatric patients along with their families are well informed of the disease process and available treatment with any future implications, thereby helping them make better decisions.

With an open mind I listen to my patients and try my best to understand the problem from their perspective. Finally, I may not have a cure for everything, but I promise to pay full attention and use all the resources at my disposal to provide the best possible solution. My commitment is to help you live your life to the fullest. I guide my patients towards that commitment and teach them how to maintain good health and quality of life.

My Tenure with Kaiser Permanente

I have been with Kaiser Permanente since August 2006. I am proud to work for a great organization like Kaiser Permanente as they constantly improve the process of patient care with the help of feedback from practicing physicians. I joined Kaiser Permanente in August of 2006 soon after I finished my fellowship in Geriatrics at UCLA. The physicians here are among the best in the country and I strive to do my best in providing quality care with the same compassion. The thing that I boast about Kaiser Permanente is its unrestricted access to all specialties and medical facilities. It allows patients to receive quick references without hassle.

The best way to get a response from me without an in-person appointment is by email. You can e-mail me from Kaiser Permanente’s website at www.kp.org. I make every possible effort to respond to your email the same day unless I am off or on vacation. In case you have an urgent problem or concern please call our appointment and advice service center at 916-817-5200.

Be sure to visit the Kaiser Permanente Website for additional information regarding appointments, prescriptions, health education classes and other health-related topics. You can also click on my department link above to receive additional health information.

If you think you have a MEDICAL OR PSYCHIATRIC EMERGENCY, CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY or go to the nearest hospital. DO NOT attempt to access emergency care through this web site. An emergency medical condition is a medical or psychiatric condition that manifests itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity (including severe pain) such that you could reasonably expect the absence of immediate medical attention to result in any of the following: serious jeopardy to your health, serious impairment to your bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part. An emergency medical condition is also "active labor," which means a labor when there is inadequate time for safe transfer to a Plan hospital (or designated hospital) before delivery or if a transfer poses a threat to the health of the member or unborn child.
